The justice system in Salta has charged Daniel Orlando Serapio with the femicide of Natalia Cruz, the woman beaten to death in the town of Campo Quijano. The prosecutor from the Homicide Unit, María Luján Sodero Calvet, accused the suspect of being the author of the crimes: aggravated homicide due to the existing couple relationship and gender-based violence, and civil disobedience (three facts), in real competition, according to information from the local Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF) and accessed by the Argentine News Agency. Represented by a private defender, the 40-year-old Serapio refused to testify during the hearing held this Sunday, while the Guarantees Court ordered that he remain in custody. The crime occurred on February 17 at a home in Manzana 79 of the Luz y Fuerza neighborhood, from where the accused fled until his arrest was made at the Diego de Almagro station after intensifying the search with a reward of 10 million pesos for whoever provides accurate data that allows his location. The suspect left the scene after killing his partner and confessing the aggression to his mother-in-law, telling her that he had had a strong argument and that in the middle of the fight he brutally beat her. The victim's mother was with Natalia Cruz's daughter, and minutes after opening the bedroom door, they found the 37-year-old woman lying on the floor and with barely any vital signs. Although she was transferred to the Francisco Herrera hospital in Campo Quijano, doctors confirmed her death.
