Buenos Aires police officers have detained two fugitive men in recent hours who were wanted for sexual abuse-related offenses. The arrests were made as part of different operations carried out in the Buenos Aires locality of González Catán and in the Buenos Aires Aires neighborhood of Nueva Pompeya. Police sources informed the Argentine News Agency that in the first case, a man who had been a fugitive for over a year, accused by his ex-partner of sexually abusing her in a context of gender-based violence, was captured in the Buenos Aires locality of González Catán, where he was hiding. The complaint was filed in December 2024 by a woman who stated that her then-partner, during cohabitation, forced her to have sexual relations without her consent and also had inappropriate conduct with her 20-year-old daughter. The National Criminal and Correctional Court No. 5, headed by Manuel Arturo De Campos, before the Secretariat 116 of Tamara García, ordered the intervention of the Division of Crimes against Sexual Integrity and ordered the capture of the accused. After investigations, it was established that the accused, currently 49 years old, was hiding in a house in González Catán, where he was arrested in a public place by personnel from the investigating division along with the DDI La Matanza of the Buenos Aires Provincial Police. The second procedure was carried out on Saturday when personnel from the Pacification Unit, while carrying out crime prevention tasks, observed a man who, upon noticing the police presence, tried to hide and evade the personnel. Faced with that attitude, he was secured for his proper identification and it was verified that he had an international arrest warrant dated July 8, 2024, for a case filed as “Aggravated sexual abuse of a humiliating nature, aggravated by the bond in real conjunction with the crime of sexual abuse with carnal access, both in ideal conjunction with the crime of corruption of minors”, at the request of Guarantees Court No. 5 of the La Matanza Judicial Department. After consultation with the on-duty Guarantees Court of La Matanza, headed by Martín Maquia, it was ordered to detain the accused, a 38-year-old Argentine, and to carry out the necessary procedural actions. Both detainees were made available to the intervening magistrates.
