Buenos Aires Authorities Initiate Legal Action Against Closed Private School

The Ministry of Education of Buenos Aires City has taken action in this matter. In mid-January, the parents of the 300 students attending all grades at the private Formar Futuro College and its 75 employees received an email announcing the school's closure just days before the start of the academic year. Faced with a lack of response from the institution's authorities, located at Simbrón 5490 in the Villa Real neighborhood, the case went viral and, in recent hours, the city's Ministry of Education confirmed the initiation of legal proceedings. Noticias Argentina Agency gained access to the statement from the City's Education Ministry, which explained the cause and the steps to be taken. Buenos Aires, February 8 (NA) – Dozens of students are left without a school, and parents are desperate just days before classes begin after the authorities of the Formar Futuro College in the Villa Real neighborhood unexpectedly announced the definitive closure of the institution. According to their statements, everything began in January when teachers denounced not having been paid. “As a party affected, the Ministry has initiated all legal actions against the responsible parties of the institute, as the institution received state aid,” the statement begins. At the request of Minister María de las Mercedes Miguel, “all necessary actions are being taken to ensure that students can continue their studies in other establishments, in addition to accompanying them and their families in this process.” Furthermore, to prevent schools from making closure decisions without notifying families, the Ministry “issued a resolution to ensure that families are notified in a timely manner.” “This is a way to support the educational community by focusing on the care of the children and their families,” the statement expresses. This resolution aims at anticipation by analyzing the overall situation of the institution, evaluating support alternatives, and establishing order in the procedure by developing joint strategies with the institution to guarantee that students continue their educational paths. The Argentine Union of Private Teachers (SADOP) of the Federal Capital also echoed this case, issuing a statement that repudiates and denounces the school's closure. “The authorities of the Institution not only defrauded the entire educational community but also the state by misappropriating the funds that, through the Directorate General of Private Management Education (DGEGP), were received with the sole purpose of paying teacher salaries,” they expressed. Finally, they state that the whereabouts of the employers are still unknown, “who continue to give no response to the demands of the authorities of the Ministry of Education of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires or the workers, who have not received their December 2025 salaries”.
