New CGT Leadership Structure for 2025-2029

The Argentine General Confederation of Labor (CGT) has approved a tripartite leadership for the next four years. Jorge Sola, Cristian Jerónimo, and Octavio Argüello were appointed as general secretaries, with significant changes in key secretariats.

The General Confederation of Labor (CGT) defined its new leadership for the next four years. In the context of a tense day with negotiations until the last moment, a tripartite leadership structure was finally established. Jorge Sola (Insurance), Cristian Jerónimo (SEIVARA), and Octavio Argüello (Truck Drivers) were appointed as general secretaries. They will be supported by the CGT's historical general secretary, Andrés Rodríguez (UPCN), and dozens of union leaders who reaffirmed their commitment to the central, focusing on ensuring unity in action. One of the most significant changes is in the Secretariat of Trade, which will be led by the Union of Metallurgical Workers (UOM), as anticipated, but not by its general secretary Abel Furlán, but by a representative of the union. Héctor Daer (Health) will head the Interior Secretariat, and Horacio Arreceygor and Susana Benítez (SATSAID) will be the CGT's spokespersons, replacing Sola. Other changes include Hugo Benítez (Textiles) in Social Security, Jorge Mancini (AGOEC) in Environment, Carlos Gaudensi (FATPREN) in Gender, Oscar Rojas (Workshops) in Social Policies, José Voytenco (UATRE) in Child Protection, and Nahuel Chancel (SUPEH) in Occupational Health. Despite the tensions and strong disputes throughout the day, the only major figures to leave the CGT's leadership were the members of the Union of Streetcar and Bus Drivers (UTA) led by Roberto Fernández.
