The provincial elections in Misiones are set for June 8, where around 943,000 voters will elect 20 provincial deputies. The political landscape is shifting amid internal party changes.

National deputy Martín Arjol, from the opposition and aligned with the national Government, has confirmed that he will not seek to be a candidate for provincial deputy in Misiones. His intention is to renew his seat as a national legislator. On the other hand, Enrique de Arrechea, former president of the provincial UCR and current director of the EBY, has also announced that he will not seek a seat in the provincial Chamber of Deputies. Regarding Activar, the provincial party of provincial deputy Pedro Puerta, there is absolute silence.

The governor of Misiones, Hugo Passalacqua, has signed a decree to hold provincial elections on June 8. On this day, around 943,000 residents of Misiones will elect 20 provincial deputies whose term will extend from December 10, 2025, to December 10, 2029. Four councilors will also be selected in municipalities such as Leandro N. Alem, Eldorado, Iguazú, Montecarlo, among others.

Since 2003, Misiones has conducted the splitting of the electoral calendar. On this occasion, the provincial ruling party has announced that Sebastián Macías, current president of Provincial Road Management, will head the list of provincial deputies. Although other names have not been revealed, the incorporation of mayors aligned with this political party to the list is not ruled out.

The missionary radicalism will arrive at the elections fragmented, due to the expulsion and resignations of leaders who have aligned with President Javier Milei. It also faces a campaign affected by the legal situation of former provincial deputy Sebastián Kiczka, who has been charged since early 2024 with possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material.

The missionary justicialist party, aligned with kirchnerism, will arrive at the elections with intervention. The group La Libertad Avanza, for now, remains silent regarding its participation in the elections.
