Various political personalities, human rights defenders, union leaders, and constitutional lawyers held an event in front of the National Congress demanding the initiation of a political trial against President Javier Milei. The event argued that there are reasons to investigate the president for his alleged involvement in the so-called 'Cryptogate' related to the disclosure of the memecoin $LIBRA and for an altercation with Deputy Facundo Manes during the last opening of ordinary sessions.

Former Argentine ambassador to Venezuela, Alicia Castro, expressed her disappointment over the lack of progress in activating the political trial commission in the Chamber of Deputies over the past year. She emphasized the need to carefully analyze the various grounds presented by the group of people supporting the political trial and compared the situation to Al Capone, suggesting that Milei could face legal consequences similar to those of the famous American mobster.

Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 1980, underscored the importance of a government that prioritizes the interests of the people and criticized those who betray that trust. Eduardo Barcesat, along with other prominent figures like Claudio Lozano, Rafael Klejzer, and Hugo Godoy, supported the demand for a political trial and highlighted the seriousness of the current situation in the country.

Despite the pressures from the parliamentary opposition of Unión por la Patria (UxP), the process to bring Milei to a political trial remains stalled. The protesters insist on the need for the allegations against him to be investigated, asserting that the institutional future and the stability of the country depend on the accountability of those in power.
