Argentine Government Appoints New Jurists to the Supreme Court

The president announced that the administration will continue with the legislative process so that the Senate can fulfill its functions and approve the corresponding appointments to the Supreme Court. Two jurists, Manuel García-Mansilla and Ariel Lijo, were appointed on a commission until the end of the next legislative period, marking a shift in the political agenda.

Regarding the $LIBRA cryptocurrency scandal, which had negative repercussions for the Government, it has taken a backseat. This change of focus occurs in a context where Cristina Kirchner shares actions with Governor Axel Kicillof, which is perceived as favorable for the Government. On the other hand, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta's decision to criticize the PRO and announce his candidacy in the legislative elections also affects the political landscape.

The Government trusts that these situations will not take away votes from the La Libertad Avanza party. Moreover, Larreta's confrontation with the PRO, which involves both Jorge Macri and Mauricio Macri, is seen as a factor that could benefit the ruling party. With alliances at stake, new political spaces, and opposing poles in the electoral dispute, a legislative year filled with tensions and novelties is expected according to the cards currently played.

The $LIBRA scandal seems to have been relegated, as the Government believes that the political agenda has changed, especially after Milei's successful trip to the United States, where he met with prominent figures like Elon Musk and Donald Trump. Aware that this year could mark a crucial point in the electoral realm, the executive power opted to appoint Ariel Lijo and Manuel García-Mansilla to the Supreme Court as a measure to ensure the normal functioning of the court.

Despite winning the last elections with more than 50% of the votes in a runoff, the Government seeks to secure a majority aligned with its ideas in Congress in the upcoming legislative elections. The political strategy focuses on strengthening alliances, occupying new spaces, and facing challenges that may arise in a year that looks decisive in the electoral arena.
