Senator Proposes Investigation into President's Crypto Launch

National Senator Pablo Blanco (UCR-Tierra del Fuego) announced that the upper chamber plans to approve today the creation of an investigative committee regarding President Javier Milei's involvement in the launch of the cryptocurrency $LIBRA. Blanco argued that it is necessary to clarify what happened since Friday, as both trust in the President and in the country are at stake.

In an interview on the program 'This Morning' on Radio Rivadavia, the senator assured that the special majority of two-thirds required to establish the investigative committee would be guaranteed, and there is even more support than necessary. However, he indicated that he is not in favor of pushing for an immediate political trial unless the investigation reveals something of greater seriousness.

In turn, Blanco emphasized that Milei's behavior in publishing the tweet about the launch of $LIBRA constitutes a violation of the public ethics law. He criticized the president's explanation on a television channel, arguing that by comparing the situation to Russian roulette and a casino, he did not adequately clarify his position.

Regarding other topics to be addressed in the session, the senator expressed his opposition to the suspension of the PASO primaries, arguing that modifying the electoral system in an election year would break a parliamentary tradition. He also anticipated that his party would not provide a quorum if a session is called to approve the nomination of Judge Ariel Lijo, proposed to join the Supreme Court of Justice, and stated that this vacancy should be filled by a woman and not a man.
