The Ministry of Women, Genders, and Diversity has been closed, which has caused great concern. Ayelén Mazzina, former minister of the department eliminated by President Javier Milei, expressed her deep concern about this decision. According to Mazzina, the closure of this ministry goes beyond partisan political differences.
Mazzina defended the work of the ministry, highlighting that of every 100 pesos allocated to the State, only 20 cents were allocated to the department she led. The federal march organized by the LGBTIQ+ communities was key in this context and was driven by the president's speech at the Davos Forum.
The former minister emphasized that with the creation of the ministry, significant progress had been made in gender policy. However, she believes that the closure of this ministry represents a significant setback for Argentina.
In statements to radio Splendid 990, Mazzina stressed: "Closing a ministry under the pretext that it was a cost to the State is simply not true." Additionally, she noted that she perceives a clear systematic attack against women and individuals in general in the country.
In this sense, Mazzina warned about the gravity of the current situation and the importance of maintaining solid public policies on gender issues. With the closure of this department, there are fears of a weakening of the progress made in the fight for equality and the rights of women and diverse individuals in Argentina.
