
An explosion followed by a fire occurred at a Transportadora Gas del Sur (TGS) plant in the Tratayén field during the early hours of last Thursday. The company reported that the explosion was caused by the overheating of a component of a chimney, which led to a fire that was immediately controlled. Despite the initial alarm, it was assured that there was no risk to the population or the environment, as the damaged facility is isolated from the operational areas.
The rapid intervention of emergency teams was key to controlling the situation, according to the company, noting that no significant consequences were reported thanks to the prompt action. TGS detailed that the cause of the incident was the overheating in a component of the ventilation system of the affected chimney, ruling out more severe damage to the plant.
