In the framework of a femicide that occurred inside the Mercofrut premises, a police team from the Regional Capital Unit intervened and arrested the main suspect of the crime. The head of the Homicide Division, Chief Commissioner Juana Estequiño, indicated that initially two hypotheses were considered: femicide or robbery, due to the lack of belongings of the victim.
According to Estequiño, the Prosecutor's Office ordered the provisional detention of the former partner of the deceased woman to conduct forensic tests and examinations, as they lived in the same household. Two young individuals known for robberies in the area were also detained preventively in relation to the second hypothesis. During a search, sneakers and a knife used in the crime were found, strengthening the theory of femicide.
In the home of the main suspect's family, clothing with blood stains was discovered, leading to the arrest order for the individual. Chief Commissioner Guillermo Del Lugo mentioned that his police team carried out investigative tasks at the scene and that the suspect was in custody at the Fourth Sectional Police Station.
Estequiño detailed that at 7:30 a.m., the 911 Comprehensive Emergency System was alerted about the discovery of a deceased woman’s body at the back of the Mercofrut premises, where the Fourth Sectional Police Station and the Capital Investigation Unit also participated.
