Marijuana Seizure in Misiones

The National Gendarmerie of Argentina reports the seizure of more than a ton of marijuana during an operation in the town of Delicia, Misiones. The narcotic was found during a patrol in the Paraná River area, and its confiscation was ordered by the Federal Prosecutor's Office.

As part of the controls established by the National Ministry of Security to combat drug trafficking at the border, the National Gendarmerie seized more than one ton of marijuana during an operation carried out in Misiones.

The incident occurred while personnel from Squad 10 'Eldorado', with the support of technical units from GNA, were patrolling at night in an area known as 'El Francés', in the town of Delicia, and observed how bundles were thrown from a vessel towards the Argentine shore of the Paraná River. Upon noticing the presence of the gendarmes, the crew fled, abandoning a total of 36 large packages containing a brownish plant substance in the local vegetation.

Field tests 'Narcotest' showed a positive result for 'cannabis sativa', confirming a weight of 1,053 kilos and 207 grams. By order of the Federal Prosecutor's Office of Eldorado, the narcotic was seized.
