New Podcast Against Gender Violence

The new podcast "Let's Connect, a podcast to Transform Silence into Listening" highlights the stories behind the statistics on gender violence and emphasizes the importance of supporting those who suffer. With the participation of Ana Inés Álvarez, executive director of the Avon Foundation, it shares accounts from women who have experienced situations of violence and from the people or organizations that have supported them.

In the first episode, the story of María is told, a woman who lived years of abuse from her husband. Her sister Sofía, witnessing her suffering, decided to intervene and be the support María needed. Sofía emphasized: "Love is stronger than anything else," highlighting the importance of the intervention of close individuals for the victim to recognize her situation and seek help.

The podcast advocates for transforming silence into listening, breaking isolation and building support networks that empower women. These networks have the capacity to connect, raise awareness, and provide concrete tools to combat gender violence. The recent campaign of the Avon Foundation also highlights that violence feeds on complicit silence and promotes empathetic listening as an act of support and a tool for transformation.

In Argentina, 318 victims of gender violence were reported in the last year, representing one victim every 27 hours, according to La Casa del Encuentro. These data reveal the urgent need to strengthen support and containment for those suffering from violence. The Avon Foundation, as part of its commitment to eradicate violence against women and girls, has launched this podcast to amplify the voices of victims and promote social change.
