Animal Rescue in Balvanera

More than 50 cats, two dogs, and a pigeon were rescued by the City Police from a building in the Balvanera neighborhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The operation took place in two apartments located on Alberti street, as part of an investigation into animal cruelty.

In one of the apartments, the agents found large accumulations of clothing, objects, and garbage, with nauseating odors due to the presence of feces and urine. In that place, they found a caged pigeon, a mixed-breed dog, and a cat. In total, 51 cats were rescued from that residence.

In the other apartment, they discovered a large dog and 50 cats of different colors and breeds in precarious conditions, overcrowded and surrounded by feces due to poor hygiene.

Judge Gonzalo RĂșa, from the Criminal, Contraventional, and Minor Offenses Court No. 6, with the intervention of the Specialized Environmental Public Prosecutor's Office (UFEMA), ordered the owner to be sanctioned for violating articles 57, 140, and 142 of the City Contraventional Code and gave her a deadline of 48 hours to relocate the animals.

The operation involved specialized police units, veterinarians, and judicial personnel. Additionally, disinfection and fumigation of the residences will be carried out to ensure appropriate sanitary conditions.
