The Secretariat of Environment and Climate Change carried out an inspection at the Patagonia Alkaline plant (ALPAT) to supervise compliance with environmental regulations. During the review, special attention was paid to monitoring particulate matter PM10, as well as the air quality in general.
"Conducting these controls is fundamental to ensure air quality and protect both people and the natural environment," explained Judith Jiménez, Secretary of Environment and Climate Change. The monitoring and emissions control systems, the frequency of measurements, and the calibration of equipment were verified.
In addition, the systems for treating and disposing of liquid and gaseous effluents, as well as the management of hazardous and solid waste from the production process, were reviewed. The Secretariat conducts monthly and semiannual air quality monitoring in the area to ensure compliance with established standards.
The results of this inspection will be included in a technical report, and if non-compliance is detected, necessary legal measures will be taken and deadlines will be established for implementing corrections. "We will continue to work to ensure that industrial activities are carried out in harmony with environmental care and the health of our community, complying with environmental regulations throughout the province," concluded Jiménez.
