Long Weekend Ahead for National Sovereignty Day

The extended weekend in November 2023 coincides with Argentina's National Sovereignty Day on the 18th. This year’s holiday creates an opportunity for citizens to enjoy time off, although the December holiday won’t form an extended break.

Long Weekend Ahead for National Sovereignty Day

The month of November is underway and one of the last long weekends of the year is approaching, thanks to the national holiday of the National Sovereignty Day, which is celebrated next Monday, November 18. Although the actual date of the commemoration is November 20, it is moved to Monday to create an extended weekend.

However, this will not be the last holiday of the year in Argentina, as the Day of the Immaculate Conception of Mary will be celebrated on December 8. Regarding this holiday, since it falls on a Sunday, it will remain as unmovable as established by the government in the Official Calendar.

Additionally, it was determined that there will be no added holiday for tourism purposes to create a long weekend in 2024. With this, it is confirmed that there won't be an extended weekend in December of that year. The 2024 holiday calendar in Argentina includes various festive days, both unmovable and movable.

Among the unmovable holidays are National Day of Memory for Truth and Justice, Veteran's Day and the Fallen in the Malvinas War, and Independence Day, among others. On the other hand, the movable holidays include important dates such as Diversity Cultural Respect Day and National Sovereignty Day.

Regarding long weekends in Argentina for 2024, some periods with these characteristics stand out, such as the 3-day long weekend which will extend from December 30, 2023, to January 1, 2024, and others that reach up to 5 days, such as the one that will run from March 29 to April 2.
