A forest fire broke out in the Puerto Patriada area, in the locality of El Hoyo in the province of Chubut, and destroyed ten homes and several vehicles. According to the Argentine News Agency, hundreds of visitors and residents had to be evacuated due to the advance of the flames in this tourist village located in the north of Argentina's southern province. To stop the fire, an action plan was put in place, involving about 230 people, including firefighters and support teams. The fire in the area known as Primera Cantera remains active and has so far affected various vegetation such as native forest, planted forest, shrubs, and bushes. Extreme drought, lack of rainfall, and constant winds are complicating the fight against the flames, which are spreading uncontrollably. Meanwhile, Mayor César Salamín confirmed the loss of ten houses and four vehicles. "There are many houses in the area, with a lot of vegetation around," he added in an interview with FM El Chubut. In addition, Oliva explained that it is difficult to defend the houses because the vegetation is "planted, typical of the area, very close to the houses." Mobile units are moving, but the localities where each barracks is located cannot be neglected. "Puerto Patriada has only one entrance. The priority is always the life of the people and the intervening personnel, but we work to avoid material losses".
