La Matanza Municipality Launches Free 2026 Summer Colonies

The Municipality of La Matanza has launched the 2026 Summer Colonies with a free program that will run from January 2 to February 6. This initiative is aimed at girls and boys, teenagers, people with disabilities, and the elderly, offering recreational, educational, and sports activities across 10 venues in the district. According to the Argentine News Agency, the initiative includes a support and logistics scheme that covers transportation, meal service, health coverage, and the accompaniment of teams of teachers, instructors, and lifeguards, with themed sessions and summer programs designed for different age groups. The municipality reported that the operation is divided into two daily shifts at each site: from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., featuring outdoor activities, artistic-expression workshops, and aquatic alternatives, as well as special meetings and recreational events. Local executives emphasized that the scheme is coordinated with various municipal areas to ensure safety, assistance, and territorial coordination throughout the season, with a focus on access to activities for families that do not have private alternatives. Regarding registration, it was indicated that the process is essential, with limited spots, and is carried out at the Alberto Balestrini Polideportivo (Av. Juan Manuel de Rosas 1413, Lomas del Mirador) during the hours informed by the commune, in addition to the possibility of checking enabled venues in the polideportivo network. The official goal is to maintain a massive and orderly colony during January and early February, reinforcing the public summer offer with activities and comprehensive services for different community groups.
