Fires in Chubut Brought Under Control

A change in weather conditions helped firefighters contain the fires that broke out in the area of El Turbio, in the northwest of Chubut province. The fires consumed about 3,000 hectares of native forest. According to the head of the Provincial Fire Management System, Rubén Jaramillo, the situation is currently calm. "For now, we have a fairly quiet day regarding the fire. The rain has significantly lowered the temperature in the affected area, so we are mainly doing observation," he noted. However, Jaramillo warned that one cannot let their guard down: "Now it is calm, but we cannot relax. In the mountains, one must always be alert because it has barely rained and everything is very dry." He also called on people enjoying natural environments to take precautions, respect regulations, and inform themselves about the use of fire.
