Man murdered at retirement party in Argentina

On Sunday early morning in Dos Hermanas, Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos, Argentina, 69-year-old Raúl Alfredo Scherer was murdered during his retirement party, which was also his nephew's birthday. The killer was 29-year-old Hernán Morales, who entered the house with a shotgun. The intoxicated assailant, who had prior convictions for gender-based violence, had a prior altercation with the victim and was asked to leave. However, Morales went to a rural shop, armed himself with a shotgun and a carbine, and returned. After a struggle with the retiree, the killer shot him in the groin and fled the scene. The assailant was detained by witnesses who attempted to help the victim. Scherer was taken to the hospital but died from hypovolemic shock and multiple organ failure without receiving medical attention. The aggressor, who had been beaten by the witnesses, was later arrested at the Centenario Hospital in Gualeguaychú. Although the investigation is ongoing, he could be charged with aggravated homicide.
