Tribute to the Rión Family in Villa Sastre

On the next Saturday, March 15th at 5 PM, an emotional tribute will take place for the Rión family in Villa Sastre, organized by local residents, the Temperley Has Memory Collective, APDH, and the Subsecretariat of Human Rights of the Municipality of Lomas de Zamora. The family was kidnapped and disappeared on July 22, 1977.

The event will focus on marking the corner of Flores and Tarija, in Villa Sastre, near where the Rión family lived, as an act to keep historical memory alive in the face of denial from certain sectors. The event will feature local musical bands committed to the fight for Truth, Memory, and Justice.

On July 22, 1977, repressive agents entered the house of Mrs. Rosario in Temperley Este, kidnapping her, her husband José Ítalo Rión, their eldest son Juan Domingo "Cholo," and their foster son Mario Arrativel. Since then, the family has remained missing, having been taken to a concentration camp along with 14 other people.

During the torture sessions, Cholo suffered intensely, even experiencing epileptic seizures in the presence of his parents, who were helpless witnesses to these inhumane acts. Local musicians, such as "Noche Negra," "La Perla Bohemia," and "Rancios," will join the tribute as a way to keep the memory of the Rión family and all victims of repressive violence alive.
