YPF Launches Solar Park "El Quemado" in Mendoza

The "El Quemado" photovoltaic solar park is the first renewable electricity project presented to the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI). On the other hand, YPF has announced that in November it will present the first project of the O&G industry, the Vaca Muerta Sur pipeline, which will require an investment of US$2.5 billion. Once completed, this pipeline will have a transport capacity of 360,000 barrels per day by December 2026, positioning the country as one of the main energy exporters in the region.

The "El Quemado" project, announced by YPF Luz in July 2024, will have a total investment of USD 220 million. The park will be located in the Las Heras department, province of Mendoza, and will be developed in collaboration with EMESA (Mendoza Energy Company) in two phases to reach a total installed capacity of 305 MW. This power will be equivalent to the consumption of more than 233,000 homes and will help avoid the emission of more than 385,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year.

The first phase of the solar park is expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2026, with a construction period of 18 months. The main characteristics of the El Quemado Photovoltaic Solar Park are: - Total installed capacity: 305 MW. - Presentation date to RIGI: 10/25/2024. - Total investment: US$ 220 million. - Phase I: 200 MW - Phase II: 105 MW.
