Stocks and Bonds Falling in Argentina

Stocks and bonds in Argentina ceded positions after several days of increases, with the S&P Merval down 0.1%. The most notable drops were from IRSA and Ternium, while Metrogas and Grupo Supervielle showed increases. The Country Risk rate reached 1,100 basis points, reflecting the market situation.

Today, after days of increases, both bonds and stocks experienced setbacks due to profit-taking sales. In the case of stocks, the decline was more selective than that observed in public securities. The S&P Merval index fell by only 0.1%, positioning itself at 1,820,705.37 points.

Among the stocks with the largest declines are IRSA (-2%), Ternium (-1.9%) and Telecom (-1.2%). On the other hand, the largest increases were registered in the assets of Metrogas (+2.6%), Grupo Supervielle (+1.8%) and Central Puerto (+1.6%).

In the U.S. market, Argentine companies also showed selective behavior. The largest increases were led by Grupo Supervielle (+1.8%), Transportadora de Gas del Sur (+1.5%) and Edenor (+1.4%). In contrast, the stocks that fell the most were IRSA (-2.7%), Corporación América (-2.4%) and Ternium (-2.1%).

Regarding the public securities sector, in a day with few outstanding operations, the main declines in the local market corresponded to Global 2029 (-1.5%), Global 2035 (-1.1%) and Bonar 2029 (-1.1%). In this context, the Country Risk, measured by J.P. Morgan, increased by 0.3% compared to Friday, reaching 1,100 basis points.
