Argentina Prepares for Key Meetings in Washington

The Secretary of Finance, Pablo Quirno, highlighted that the trip to Washington by the Argentine delegation, led by the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, is part of the regular discussions on international relations. Quirno, who is part of the delegation along with the President of the Central Bank, Santiago Bausili, noted that these types of trips used to occur in crisis situations, but are now part of the routine dialogues with various organizations.

During a stopover on the way to Washington to participate in the Annual Meeting of the IMF and the World Bank, Quirno took part in a dialogue session on a social network. He emphasized that it is crucial not to create high expectations about the outcomes of these meetings, although he noted that they at least want to hear from Argentina, which represents a different situation compared to the past.

The Argentine government sought to temper expectations regarding the outcomes of the trip, describing the agenda as part of the usual conversations. Despite the extensive agenda planned, no official information has been released about the bilateral meetings that will take place during this visit to Washington.

From the Ministry of Finance, they insist that the relationship with the IMF is solid, but avoid giving details about possible new programs. There is speculation that, once the review of the current program is completed, Argentina might quickly resolve how to handle the payment of the $44,000 owed, as well as the possibility of accessing fresh funds to expedite the exit from restrictions.

"The issue with the organizations has changed, as Argentina fulfills and exceeds its commitments," Quirno stated, indicating a positive change in the relationship with these international entities.
