New Process for Appointing a Representative in ANSES

ANSES has introduced a new process for retirees and pensioners to appoint representatives. Holders must visit the relevant offices with their representative and follow a series of steps to complete the process. This procedure facilitates access to benefits for those who cannot move.

New Process for Appointing a Representative in ANSES

The National Administration of Social Security (ANSES) has implemented a procedure in which holders (retirees or pensioners) can designate a trusted person as an attorney-in-fact to carry out various procedures on their behalf. To designate an attorney-in-fact, the holder must choose a trusted person and both must go together to the nearest ANSES offices to start the process.

It is crucial that, before attending the appointment at the ANSES office, a prior appointment is obtained to expedite the procedure. Once they have the assigned appointment, it is necessary to present themselves at the ANSES office on the indicated date and time, accompanied by the required documentation. Not just anyone can be designated as an attorney-in-fact, so it is important to follow the specific instructions issued by the public agency.

According to ANSES instructions, immediate family members, cohabiting partners, lawyers, agents, and diplomatic or consular representatives, among others, can be designated as attorneys-in-fact. In addition, there are certain requirements and necessary documentation depending on the type of attorney-in-fact designated, whether for specific procedures or for the collection of benefits.

It is necessary to highlight that minors must be emancipated to be designated as attorneys-in-fact. Furthermore, there are authorized entities to carry out these procedures, such as certain banks, public entities, and lawyers with certified power. The entire process begins by requesting an appointment through the ANSES website and subsequently presenting the required documentation at the corresponding entity.

It is important to remember that, in the case of banking attorneys-in-fact for collections abroad, the bank must have the option for "remittance abroad." In all cases, the attorney-in-fact must be over 18 years old to carry out the designated procedures.
