Significant Investment in Green Hydrogen in Chubut

The investment company Green Capital S.A. plans to carry out an investment of 10 billion dollars in wind farms for energy generation aimed at the production of green hydrogen. This announcement came after the chief of staff, Guillermo Francos, met with the governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, to promote a Hydrogen Law in Congress that would enable this investment in the southern Argentine province.

In the meeting, Francos mentioned: "We are talking about a company determined to invest in Patagonia with an eye on the fuel of the future." He emphasized the importance of obtaining the necessary consensus in the Senate to move forward with the bill. For his part, Torres expressed the need for this legislation that would extend the timeline for what would be the Incentive Regime for Green Hydrogen.

The projected investment by Green Capital S.A. falls within the promotion of green hydrogen, an energy source seen as key for the future. The Polish company has the support of the European Union ambassador in Argentina and the Polish embassy. It is expected that the Senate will address the bill in one of the first ordinary sessions.

Additionally, Ignacio Torres raised the need for the government to engage in dialogue with the administration of Donald Trump to address tariff barriers that could affect aluminum exports from Chubut to the United States. Since the province is the main aluminum exporter in South America and the North American country receives 40% of exports in this sector, concern is palpable in the run-up to President Javier Milei's trip to the United States.
