Agricultural Federation Welcomes Reduced Retentions

The head of the Argentine Agrarian Federation, Andrea Sarnari, commented in a recent interview that the government's reduction of withholdings on the agricultural sector is a positive measure. She highlighted that it was expected that the withholdings would not be eliminated abruptly and that the gradual process will allow small producers to adjust while the State continues to collect until their definitive elimination.

Sarnari explained that the gradual removal of withholdings benefits smaller producers and provides stability to the sector. She emphasized that, although she is aware that the process will take time, it is an encouraging sign that the agricultural sector needed amid a scenario of rising production costs at the beginning of the harvest.

The demand to reduce withholdings was persistent from the agricultural sector and provinces with high agro-industrial activity. Sarnari mentioned that the step taken represents a positive advance towards the needs of the agricultural sector. The mechanism for reducing withholdings will come into effect for exporters starting next January 27 and will conclude at the end of June.
