The Argentine forward Lionel Messi congratulated his teammates from the National Team, goalkeeper Emiliano “Dibu” Martínez and forward Lautaro Martínez, for their nominations at the Ballon d'Or gala. Messi expressed his happiness especially for “Dibu” Martínez, who received the Yachine award as the best goalkeeper of the year for the second consecutive time, in honor of the legendary Soviet goalkeeper Lev Yashin.
Both players made it onto the list of the top 20 players of the year, with Lautaro Martínez in seventh place and Emiliano Martínez in eighteenth place. Messi also extended his congratulations to “all the winners and nominees of the 2024 Ballon d'Or.”
