In Villa Gesell, a meeting took place where 36 mayors, both from the interior and from Greater Buenos Aires, agreed on the need to eliminate the restriction on the indefinite reelection of mayors, a position previously supported by Kicillof.
During the summit, the governor explained that the decision regarding the electoral separation is conditioned on the clarity of the national primaries, as Javier Milei's government has proposed to eliminate the PASO, currently lacking sufficient political support.
The provincial electoral law establishes that the Executive must officially call for elections between 120 and 150 days before the elections. However, the relationship between Kicillof and La Cámpora seems tense, with several mayors advocating for a change in the political dynamics of Peronism.
Kicillof will continue with his agenda, including meetings in different locations, aiming to strengthen his position within the internal workings of Peronism and define the electoral strategy for the upcoming elections.
The meeting, held at the Intersur Hotel, brought together nearly half of the mayors of the province. During the gathering, the mayors presented their electoral strategies in the presence of the governor.
A statement interpreted as a challenge to Cristina Kirchner, president of the PJ, and Máximo Kirchner, leader of La Cámpora in Buenos Aires, who support maintaining unified elections.
The mayors argued that separation is essential to preserve the political identity of the province and avoid confusion among voters. Mario Secco, mayor of Ensenada, expressed that "separating is quite good."
The meeting also addressed the creation of an internal political front in the PJ, led by Kicillof, with the aim of countering the policies of Milei's government.
In summary, the group of Buenos Aires mayors from Unión por la Patria (UxP) requested the separation of the legislative elections, expressing their support for Axel Kicillof to lead a new political project from Peronism.
