Buenos Aires, January 19 (NA) – The young man who overturned his quad bike in Villa Gesell and is hospitalized in critical condition with skull, facial, and orbital fractures, could not be operated on due to the severity of his health condition. Therefore, doctors will wait for the next few hours to see if it is feasible to perform the neurosurgical intervention.
The incident occurred this weekend when the 27-year-old man, originally from the Buenos Aires town of Guernica, was seriously injured after overturning the quad bike he was riding on the dunes of the Pucará campsite in Villa Gesell.
The latest medical report accessed by the Argentine News Agency indicates that in recent hours, a neurosurgical intervention was evaluated, which included the removal of bone fragments and the placement of a sensor to monitor intracranial pressure, but this procedure “had to be postponed due to a clotting alteration that is under treatment”.
Thus, he remains in the intensive care unit with assisted breathing and medication to maintain his blood pressure, while it was reported that “his prognosis is very reserved”.
This Sunday, in the early hours of the morning due to the severity of the condition, the Integrated Health Emergency System carried out a transfer operation by helicopter from Villa Gesell to the General San Martín General Acute Hospital in La Plata.
There, doctors confirmed that he suffered fractures in the skull, in the frontal and left parietal regions, as well as in the face and in the orbital cavity.
