A legislator from Río Negro province has introduced a bill that would make it compulsory for children who have not completed their vaccinations to be inoculated. Additionally, their parents or guardians would be fined if the project is approved. The initiative was presented by Javier Acevedo, a legislator for the Civic Coalition Ari-Cambiemos bloc. The bill authorizes the provincial government to intervene and strengthen vaccination controls for children. Furthermore, if it is confirmed that minors have not received the doses on the schedule, they would be vaccinated compulsorily, while their parents or guardians would have to pay an economic fine, no less than 20% of the Minimum Vital and Mobile Salary. In case of economic insolvency, the person involved would have to perform community service in the provincial Health area. The project's justification is based on statistics provided by the Ministry of Health of the Nation, which show a slight but worrying decrease in childhood vaccination levels in the country in 2024. In mid-December, the government of Mendoza denounced 15 parents because their children did not have all the doses on the schedule, making it the first province to resort to the justice system to enforce vaccination compliance.
