The president of Platense, Sebastián Ordoñez, spoke publicly about the search for a new coach following the departure of Christian “Kily” González, clearly marking his priority as the technical duo of Favio Orsi and Sergio Gómez.
After losing 3-0 to Independiente, who had not won in the entire Clausura tournament, at the Libertadores de América stadium, González ceased to be the “Calamar’s” coach after 14 matches in charge.
In an interview with DSports, Ordoñez expressed that the club is currently attractive for coaches and that there is no shortage of proposals: “Today Platense is tempting. The best for the club was to terminate the link in the best possible way.”
“I am grateful that ‘Kily’ came to take the helm of a championship team. We sought to continue what had been done with the duo, which was something historic. We like Platense to win, but we also have to be aware of the limitations and of what one can give,” stated Ordoñez.
“But we have to wait. If the response is not favorable, we will continue with the other options we have on the table. We are not going to rush,” declared the executive.
In turn, he thanked “Kily” González for his time in a complex context and explained the reasons for the separation: “We had a sincere talk. I spoke with their representative.”
He also confirmed that the intention is to have a technical body defined before the match against Sarmiento: “We are not going to rush either. We have 30 projects on the table.”
“Our first option is for the duo to come back to work with us. The most important thing today is to keep Platense in Primera.”
Platense will face Sarmiento on Monday, November 3rd, at the Ciudad de Vicente López stadium, at 4:45 PM.
