Solidarity Efforts in Tigre for Laid-off Workers

During the week of struggle against the layoffs at Linde Praxair, located in Ricardo Rojas, Tigre district, various actions were carried out. On Tuesday the 18th and Wednesday the 19th, leafleting took place in the neighborhoods of Ricardo Rojas and La Paloma, respectively. On Thursday the 20th, a communal meal was organized at the factory's entrance that concluded with a mass for supporting neighbors.

Maxi Arecco, one of the laid-off workers, mentioned that they have been fighting for 70 days over the dismissal of 10 employees. During the leafleting, the community expressed its support and solidarity, showing surprise at the situation of the workers who were dismissed for forming an internal commission to defend their rights.

After a 4-day strike in the first week of February and a call at Panamericana and 197, mandatory conciliation was decreed by the provincial Ministry of Labor. Despite this, the company has still not complied with the resolution. The communal meal held in solidarity with the laid-off workers was attended by neighbors, local organizations, and members of the Solidarity Committee.

At the end of January, 4 workers were reinstated, but the struggle continues for the other 6 who were laid off. Workers' assemblies and the Solidarity Committee continue to work towards the reinstatement of all affected employees.
