Trial for the death of Diego Maradona is delayed

Judge María Coello took an unusual path in the case related to the death of Diego Armando Maradona. Mario Baudry, advisor to Diego Fernando Maradona and Verónica Ojeda, demanded that the prosecutors deliver all evidence.

Neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, psychologist Agustina Cosachov, psychologist Carlos Díaz, nurse Ricardo Almirón, Mariano Perroni (head of Almirón), clinical doctor Pedro Pablo Di Spagna, and Nancy Edith Forlini, coordinating doctor of a prepaid medical plan, will be tried starting March 11, 2025.

In the case, Dalma and Gianinna Maradona, Verónica Ojeda, Rocío Oliva, lawyer Matías Morla, and Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia, president of AFA, will testify. Ana Estela and Rita Mabel Maradona, Gabriel Pellegrino (former president of Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata), Mario Baudry, and journalists Nelson Castro and Marcela Tauro will also testify.

A hearing was scheduled for February 26 to set the date for the jury trial in which Gisella Dahiana Madrid, the nurse accused of "homicide with eventual intent" of Maradona, will appear. Rodolfo Baqué, Madrid's lawyer, mentioned that the case theory, evidentiary agreements, and witness list for the trial will be debated.

Baqué reported the existence of "doctored images" in the room of the Tigre country club where Maradona died. He criticized the delay in the start of the trial and expressed surprise at the situation, suggesting that there seems to be fear toward the prosecution and some plaintiffs.
