New Aerial Connectivity for Tandil and Olavarría

The Argentine government announced new air routes connecting Tandil and Olavarría to Buenos Aires, enhancing transport options for regional travel. A plan to introduce small aircraft for these routes aims to revitalize local travel and boost the economy.

New Aerial Connectivity for Tandil and Olavarría

The Minister of Deregulation and State Transformation, Federico Sturzenegger, announced the reopening of the air route between Tandil and Olavarría and the Jorge Newbery Airport in Buenos Aires. Additionally, a new route is planned that will connect Aeroparque with Venado Tuerto (Santa Fe) and Junín (Buenos Aires), expanding transportation options for the interior of the country.

American Jet plans to incorporate nine aircraft to develop regional flights starting in 2025, which would improve air connectivity in the region. Although the company Humming Airways was initially mentioned as a possible operator of these new routes, their participation ultimately did not materialize.

The "Héroes de Malvinas" airport in Tandil and the facilities in Olavarría have adequate runways for air traffic. Although details such as flight frequencies and prices have yet to be defined, the participation of American Jet could be essential for relaunching air connectivity in Tandil and Olavarría.

The project presented to the Tandil Business Chamber includes the use of aircraft with a capacity for 19 passengers. Meanwhile, Humming Airways, established this year, plans routes from Buenos Aires to Tandil to Olavarría and from Buenos Aires to Venado Tuerto to Junín.

Tandil lost its commercial flights in 2018; however, operations between these cities and Buenos Aires are expected to resume in November. This initiative is part of the recent deregulation of the commercial air sector, allowing for more agile and less bureaucratic operations of flights with smaller capacity aircraft.

Federico Sturzenegger emphasized the importance of connecting cities in the interior of the country that do not have sufficient demand for larger aircraft, stressing the need for an efficient and accessible air transportation network to promote development and regional integration.
