A new renewable energy project has been inaugurated in the province of Buenos Aires. It is the La Elbita Wind Farm, the eighth wind farm of Genneia and the third of the company in this province. With an investment exceeding 240 million dollars, the park is located 42 kilometers from the city of Tandil, covering an area of 1,464 hectares.
This wind farm, which consists of 36 wind turbines 120 meters high, has a production capacity designed to meet the demand of large industrial users under the Renewable Energy Term Market (MATER). It is expected to generate 705,000 MWh of renewable energy per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of 175,000 homes, which will have a significant impact on the community by contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions.
The project received mixed financing that included international and local funds. Internationally, Genneia was supported by FMO, the development bank of the Netherlands, and FinDev Canada, the Canadian development bank, which provided a corporate loan of 85 million dollars for 10 years. The commercial operation of the La Elbita Wind Farm was recently announced and is expected to prevent the emission of more than 370,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
