In the city of Sunchales, Santa Fe, the first day of the 2025 school year at school No. 379 "Florentino Ameghino" was overshadowed by a traumatic incident. In the morning, during a welcome ceremony for the 4th-grade students, the floor of a classroom gave way, causing those present to fall into a pit.
Among the affected are several students, parents, and teachers, who suffered minor injuries, except for one mother who had to be hospitalized due to various fractures. According to local media, this school is the oldest in the city and it is believed that the collapse was caused by problems with a septic tank.
Currently, the school remains closed while evaluations and necessary repairs are being made. It is expected that classes will resume tomorrow in other classrooms, with a reduced schedule for the 4th-grade students affected by the incident.
Regarding responsibility, local authorities noted that since it is a historic building, the municipality should conduct periodic inspections, and the Ministry of Education must also intervene in maintenance. It is important to highlight that the start of classes was delayed due to a robbery that occurred the day before, which forced the facilities to remain closed.
