In a crucial match for both teams, Barracas Central achieved an important victory that places them in seventh position in the table with 12 points, while Newell’s remains at the bottom of the standings, third from last with only three points. The match marked the debut of Cristian Fabbiani as the coach of the Rosario team, following the departure of Mariano Soso.

Barracas Central relied on counterattacks and individual brilliance, managing to score two goals through Jhonatan Candia and Manuel Duarte. Despite Newell’s efforts to seek an equalizer, the team was unable to capitalize on their chances. In the final minutes, Duarte sealed the victory with a powerful shot in stoppage time.

On the other hand, Newell’s tried to respond after conceding an early goal, but struggled to create real danger. Despite a goal being disallowed for offside, the team could not change the course of the match. The encounter highlighted the need for Fabbiani to work on establishing an identity for the team and reversing Newell’s difficult situation in the tournament.

In the next round, Barracas Central will look to maintain their winning form when they host Godoy Cruz, while Newell’s will aim to climb out of the bottom of the table in their visit to Atlético Tucumán. The final score was 2-0 in favor of Barracas Central at Arsenal de Sarandí, for the seventh round of Group A of the 2025 Apertura Tournament.
