Santiago del Estero, Feb 24 (NA) – Central Córdoba de Santiago del Estero made a change at halftime and won 2-0 at home against Talleres de Córdoba in a match corresponding to the seventh round of Zone A of the Apertura Tournament, held at the Alfredo Terrera stadium. According to Argentine News Agency, the goals for the “Railway” were scored by Diego Barrera in the 17th minute and Michael Santos, a forward with a past in the “T”, in the 28th, both in the second half. With this result, the albinegro team secured its second victory in the championship, reached the twelfth position in group A, and will now visit Independiente next Saturday at 20:00. Meanwhile, the visiting team was unable to climb high in the standings before facing San Lorenzo on the same day, but starting at 22:15. With a tactical setup with five defenders, the hosts knew how to defend against “Talleres” and cut all attacking paths of the team led by Carlos Tévez, but they did not generate too many dangerous chances. Not content with that, at the start of the second half, coach Lucas Pusineri shuffled the “Railway”’s lineup and thus found the key to opening the scoreboard, in the 17th minute, at the feet of Diego Barrera. Following a cross from Horacio Tijanovich, also brought in during the second half, the 21-year-old forward received the ball inside the area, dodged a rival, and unleashed a low right-footed shot to the near post that deceived goalkeeper Guido Herrera, who was expecting a shot to the far post. Later, Michael Santos, an albinegro attacker with a past in the Cordoba-based club, demonstrated his experience by winning the position with his body after a long ball into the rival area from goalkeeper Alan Aguerre, with a volley, sent the ball to the back of the net to make it 2-0.
