The Professional Football League has defined the venue scheme for the playoffs of the Apertura Tournament 2025 in Argentina. In the round of 16, quarter-finals, and semi-finals, the home advantage will be granted to the team ranked highest in the regular phase. The grand final will be held at a neutral venue, specifically at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero.
The matchups for the round of 16 of the Apertura Tournament 2025 are established as follows:
- Argentinos vs. Instituto - San Lorenzo vs. Tigre - River vs. Barracas Central - Racing vs. Platense - Rosario Central vs. Estudiantes - Huracán vs. Deportivo Riestra - Boca vs. Lanús - Independiente vs. Independiente Rivadavia
The round of 16 is scheduled to start on the weekend of Saturday, May 10, with an end date on Monday, May 12. Although the match schedule has not yet been officially announced, according to journalist Gastón Edul, it is estimated that the matches will take place as follows:
- Boca vs. Lanús: Saturday - Racing vs. Platense: Saturday - Independiente vs. Independiente Rivadavia: Sunday - River vs. Barracas Central: Monday
In the quarter-finals, there is the possibility of classic matchups, such as Boca vs. Racing and River vs. Independiente. The teams Argentinos and Platense could only face each other in a hypothetical semi-final.
With the conclusion of matchday 16, the 16 teams qualified for the round of 16 of the playoffs have been defined. It is worth noting that the matches at this stage will be single elimination. If they advance in the competition, a Superclásico between Boca and River would only be possible in a final, just like other classic matches such as one of the Avellaneda teams against Independiente or a possible Huracán vs. San Lorenzo.
