Two teenagers and an 18-year-old young man have been charged with attempted murder of a minor in Santa Fe. Additionally, two other non-punishable teenagers are being investigated for the incident, and the need for compulsory institutionalization will be evaluated.
According to Noticias Argentina agency and as indicated by the Santa Fe Public Ministry, the three accused face charges of attempted murder committed against another teenager last Thursday in San Cristóbal.
The attribution of what happened is due to the two non-punishable minors, and the procedural situation was resolved by Judge Cecilia Álamo in three hearings held in the courts of the same locality of Santa Fe.
Prosecutor Carina Gerbaldo, from the Specialized Fiscal Unit for Adolescent Criminal Responsibility, and prosecutor Emiliano Odriozola are in charge of the investigation.
The 18-year-old young man will go through the judicial process in freedom, under strict alternative measures. He is prohibited from approaching the victim or people in her environment. In addition, he will be under the care of a family member, must set a fixed address, and report twice a week to a police station.
Meanwhile, the punishable teenagers will be lodged for 90 days in a Specialized Center for Juvenile Criminal Responsibility, a closed-door institution; while the non-punishable minors were left at the disposal of the provincial Secretariat of Childhood, Adolescence, and Family.
Regarding the latter, an intervention by a socio-educational team from Mental Health was ordered so that they adopt the measures contemplated in the Comprehensive Protection Law that are necessary to safeguard the psychological and physical integrity of the investigated teenagers, the victim, and third parties.
Regarding one of the non-punishable young women, the magistrate ordered the Mental Health team to carry out the required diligences by the Civil, Commercial, Labor, Extracontractual Liability, and Family Court of Rafaela, in order to assess the need for compulsory institutionalization.
