The case of the abuse and murder of María Florencia Morello in Santa Fe Province, which occurred in October 2025, has been reactivated after the Judiciary reported a new and significant development. The case has been incorporated into the Rewards Program to identify the perpetrator.
Years ago, the case was dismissed, which prevented the young woman's family from obtaining justice for the sexual abuse followed by murder. Furthermore, at their request, the case was included in the Santa Fe Government's Rewards Program, according to the official statement.
The authorities indicated that the case was reassigned to Prosecutor Jorgelina Moser Ferro after her colleague, María Cecilia Vranicich, ordered the investigation to be reopened through Resolution No. 53/2025 of October 29, 2025.
Regarding the reward for finding the perpetrator, the Prosecutor's General Office requested the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Santa Fe Government to include it in the Program "in order to increase the chances of obtaining useful information for its clarification". In response to this request, in recent hours, the Minister of Justice and Security, Pablo Coccocioni, resolved to incorporate it, setting a reward of 25 million pesos for those who provide useful information to clarify or identify the authors, accomplices, cover-ups, or instigators of the crime.
Regarding the case, the Prosecutor General ordered the investigation to be reassigned to Prosecutor Jorgelina Moser Ferro of the Gender, Family, and Sexual Violence Unit (GEFAS), with a notification to the Regional Prosecutor of Santa Fe, Jorge Nessier.
Finally, regarding the confirmed genetic pattern, the head of the North Zone Forensic Laboratory of the Investigations Organization (OI), Consuelo Martí, was tasked with providing technical support for the investigation.
Case The young woman was originally from the city of Calchaquí and had come to the capital of Santa Fe to study architecture at the university, but everything turned into a calvary. As she was heading to the bus terminal, she was attacked. Despite being hospitalized for five days at the Hospital Cullen, she died.
Nevertheless, in recent hours, provincial authorities informed that the case has been reactivated. "The investigation was reopened because there is a record of a genetic pattern that is useful for identifying the perpetrator. The autopsy revealed the horror she suffered: she was strangled, had bruises, a destroyed eye, a broken arm, a fractured pelvis, and had been raped."
