Rising Dengue Cases Prompt Urgent Health Alerts in Santa Fe

In the province of Santa Fe, Argentina, there has been a significant increase in dengue cases, alerting health authorities. The Municipality has continued its efforts to eliminate containers that can accumulate water in neighborhoods, particularly in areas where mosquito larvae traps have tested positive.

In one week, 16 new cases have been confirmed in the provincial capital, and a total of 6,857 positive diagnoses have been reported throughout the province. Unfortunately, four deaths related to dengue have been reported in the region, with Rosario being the most affected city, followed by Casilda and Fuentes.

Lorena Massari, director of Health Promotion for the Municipality of Santa Fe, has emphasized the importance of keeping yards clean to reduce the presence of the transmitting mosquito. Despite the increase in cases, preventive measures have been intensified, including controls at the bus terminal to prevent the spread of the virus.

It is recommended that the population use repellent, wear long-sleeve clothing, and consult a doctor if dengue is suspected. Common symptoms include high fever, muscle aches, joint pain, headache, nausea, and vomiting. It is important to maintain cleanliness in homes and take precautions, especially in at-risk groups such as children, the elderly, and pregnant women.

In the city of Rosario, where the highest number of cases and three out of four deaths have been recorded, there is a call for prompt medical consultation upon the appearance of symptoms. The presence of the Aedes aegypti mosquito has increased in recent days, causing concern among health authorities.

It is crucial for authorities to locally control the transmission of the virus, and they urge the population to follow preventive measures, such as cleaning containers that can hold stagnant water. There is a warning about the possibility of complications related to dengue, and the importance of adequate treatment to avoid serious complications, such as hemorrhages, is highlighted.
