A man died this Saturday as a result of a brutal head-on collision he had with a Brazilian truck on National Route 153, near San Rafael, in the south of Mendoza province. The victim, identified as Lorenzo Zapata, aged 77, was driving a Ford Ranger pickup truck and violently crashed into a Mercedes Benz truck for unknown reasons, dying instantly. Shortly after, following a call from some witnesses of the incident to 911, police, Fire Department, and medical services arrived at the scene, whose personnel confirmed the death of the driver of the smaller vehicle. Meanwhile, Anderson Martins, the driver of the Mercedes Benz, told the police that he was traveling with another Scania truck driven by Eduardo Moresco, also Brazilian, heading north-south. Moresco stated that he was ahead of Martins and when he crossed paths with the Ford Ranger, which was traveling in the opposite direction, it crashed into the Mercedes Benz, presumably after having suffered a mechanical failure.
