The Municipality of San Miguel reported the reactivation of the expansion works for the Gaspar Campos Bridge over the Reconquista River, a strategic crossing for traffic between the district and the Camino del Buen Ayre corridor. The resumption of the project was reported in recent publications and is part of a work coordinated with the Province, aimed at streamlining traffic and improving road safety conditions at a high-demand point. According to the Argentine News Agency, the existing bridge has a roadway of 8.30 meters and side sidewalks of 1.20 meters of useful width; the intervention contemplates a new structure with equivalent dimensions and the incorporation of pedestrian improvements. The Municipality explained that the work aims to double the current size of the bridge, which would help alleviate traffic congestion and organize a key access, especially during peak hours and weekends. In the district, they admit that the bridge is a "historical bottleneck" and that the restart of the work front seeks to accelerate a broader connectivity plan for the Reconquista basin. In this context, the progress of the work will be closely followed by neighbors and merchants in the area, who have been demanding for years improvements for daily traffic and pedestrian safety in the area of the crossing.
