Buenos Aires, November 26 (NA) – The State Workers' Association (ATE) will hold a Federal Council meeting this Thursday in San Luis, where new measures of force could be defined for when the labor reform is debated in Congress. The state workers' union also does not rule out protests and road blockades during Christmas and New Year's, in rejection of the policies of Javier Milei's administration, as learned by the Argentine News Agency from union sources. The Federal Council will count on the participation of the National Secretariat of ATE led by Rodolfo Aguiar, as well as the general secretaries of the 24 provinces and the 191 chapters the union has. The meeting will take place this Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Visit Hotel in the San Luis capital, where there will be about ten hours of debate in which leaders from every corner of the country will present the main regional and local problems. Among the main ones are "the labor reform that the government is trying to impose without real dialogue, the salary cut, the impact of the adjustment in the provinces and municipalities, among other axes," ATE reported in a statement. ATE warned about the possibility that the labor reform of the Milei administration may include "the extension of the workday to 12 hours, the payment of compensation in installments, work agreements by company instead of by activity, and salary increases based on productivity." The union also demanded "the immediate reopening of collective bargaining" and detailed that "the salary cut deepened during 2025, with an increase of only 13.6% against an inflation of 24.8% so far this year".
