Three teams managed to qualify this Sunday for the semifinals of the playoff in Argentina, thus seeking the second promotion to the Primera División. San Martín de San Juan, Gimnasia de Mendoza, and San Martín de Tucumán joined Nueva Chicago in the battle for the coveted promotion.
San Martín de San Juan had a tough match at the Hilario Sánchez stadium, where All Boys took a 2-0 lead with goals from Toloza and Assennato. However, the team made an epic comeback with a brace from Casa, equalizing the score and securing their passage thanks to a 1-0 win in the first leg. In the next phase, they will face Nueva Chicago.
On the other hand, Gimnasia de Mendoza lost 1-0 to Deportivo Madryn, but their victory in the first leg by 3-1 allowed them to advance to the semifinals with an aggregate score of 3-2. They will compete in the next phase against San Martín de Tucumán, considered the favorite in the playoff.
San Martín de Tucumán took advantage of their home condition by defeating San Telmo 2-0, closing the series with an aggregate score of 3-0 in their favor and securing their place among the four best teams in the Primera Nacional.
The semifinals of the playoff will consist of the matchups between Nueva Chicago and San Martín de San Juan, as well as Gimnasia de Mendoza and San Martín de Tucumán. The dispute mechanism will remain the same, with the better-placed team in the general table hosting the second leg. In case of a tie in the series, the better-positioned team will advance due to the sporting advantage.
