Lawyers Removed from Trial for Death of Maradona

Two defense attorneys for one of the defendants in the death of Diego Armando Maradona, Rodolfo Baqué and Martín De Vargas, representatives of nurse Ricardo Almirón, were removed from the case following a request for dismissal made by attorney Diego Olmedo, defender of psychologist Carlos Díaz, on the first day of the oral trial. This decision was announced by the president of the Tribunal, Judge Maximiliano Savarino.

In response to this measure, Martín De Vargas confirmed that they will appeal the decision and pointed out that other legal representatives, including those of Leopoldo Luque and Agustina Cosachov, were also questioned. De Vargas emphasized that Almirón never blamed Madrid for Diego's death and vice versa, affirming his conviction in his client's innocence. He also stressed that the alleged conflict of interest is unfounded.

Regarding this, De Vargas stated: "Almirón never blamed Madrid for Diego's death and vice versa. I have no doubt that Almirón is innocent." This situation generated surprise and discomfort in the defense, which maintains that the main responsible parties for what happened are Luque, Cosachov, and Díaz, as Baqué has reiterated numerous times.
