One of the lawyers participating in the technical trial against neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque and the psychiatrist for the alleged 'simple homicide with eventual intent' of Diego Armando Maradona has expressed his desire for society to know the truth about how the former footballer suffered in his last days. This is Mario Baudry, advisor to Diego Fernando Maradona and partner of Verónica Ojeda, who will be present at the beginning of the ordinary debate regarding the death of the former Boca and Argentina national team player.
'Our hope is that society knows the truth about how Diego Armando Maradona lived and suffered in his last days and how he was stripped of his assets, leaving him to die,' Baudry stated in comments to the Argentine News Agency. The lawyer emphasized that the Justice system has a significant amount of evidence in the case file and must act accordingly.
Baudry highlighted that the defendants could be convicted for abandonment of a person followed by death without difficulties, as all those accusations are substantiated and requested. The trial involves neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, psychiatrist Agustina Cosachov, psychologist Carlos Díaz, nurse Ricardo Almirón, his boss Mariano Perroni, clinical physician Pablo Pedro Di Spagna, and the coordinating physician of the Swiss Medical prepaid medical service, Nancy Edith Forlini.
All of them face charges for the alleged 'simple homicide with eventual intent' of Maradona, a crime that carries a penalty of eight to 25 years in prison according to the Penal Code. On the other hand, nurse Gisela Dahiana Madrid will be tried by a jury in a proceeding that will take place in the second half of the year.
