One of the nurses accused in the case of the alleged "simple homicide with eventual intent" of Diego Armando Maradona has appointed two new lawyers four days before the start of the technical trial. This is Ricardo Omar Almirón, one of the seven accused in relation to the death of the former player, who now has legal representation from Rodolfo Baqué and Martín Miguel de Vargas, who join the team led by Franco Chiarelli. Baqué, who also advises another nurse in a different legal case, confirmed his appointment as Almirón's lawyer and expressed that "the Prosecutor's Office and the plaintiff did not provide all the evidence."
Regarding the innocence of the implicated nurses, Baqué stated that "all the nurses are innocent because they were auxiliaries." In addition to Almirón, those being investigated include neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, psychiatrist Agostina Cosachov, her boss Mariano Perroni, clinical physician Pedro Pablo Di Spagna, and the coordinating doctor of a health plan, Nancy Edith Forlini. All of them face accusations in the case of Maradona's death, which occurred on November 25, 2020, at 60 years old in a gated community in Tigre, as a result of a "cardiorespiratory arrest secondary to acute pulmonary edema caused by acute left ventricular insufficiency."
